BenQ installation instructions
This guide explains how to set up and install the Fusion Signage application on a compatible BenQ Android display.
Important: BenQ screens may include two file-management applications: Files and AMS Files. You must open the Fusion Signage installation file through the standard Files app. Do not use AMS Files, as the installation file may not appear or open correctly.
Before you begin
You will need:
- A compatible BenQ Android display
- An internet connection
- The Fusion Signage Android installation file or download link
- The BenQ remote control, or a connected keyboard and mouse
1. Complete the initial BenQ setup
If the screen is new or has recently been factory reset, complete the Android setup first.
- Select your preferred language, then select Start.
- Connect the screen to your network.
- When asked to copy apps and data, select Don’t copy.
- Sign in with a Google account or select Skip if one is not required.
- Review the Google services options and select Accept.
- Review the BenQ Privacy Policy, select Agree, and continue through the remaining prompts.
The available options may look slightly different depending on the BenQ model and Android version.
2. Confirm the date and time
The correct date, time and time zone are important for content scheduling and communication with Fusion Signage.
- Open Settings.
- Select System.
- Select Date & time.
- Enable Set time automatically.
- Enable Set time zone automatically, or manually select the correct local time zone.
3. Download the Fusion Signage app
Open Chrome and enter the Fusion Signage download link: https://fus.app/a.apk
Download the Android installation file. This will usually be an .apk file.
4. Locate the installation file
Once the download is complete:
- Return to the BenQ home screen.
- Open the app drawer.
- Open Files.
- Select Downloads.
- Select the Fusion Signage .apk file.
Please check that you are using the correct app: Open Files, not AMS Files. AMS Files is BenQ’s account-based file-management application and is not the folder required for this installation.
5. Allow installation from Files or Chrome
Android may prevent apps from being installed outside the Google Play Store.
If prompted:
- Select Settings from the warning message.
- Find the application you used to open the file, such as Files or Chrome.
- Turn on Allow from this source.
- Return to the previous screen.
- Select the Fusion Signage file again.
- Select Install.
For security, you can turn Allow from this source off again after Fusion Signage has been installed.
6. If Google Play Protect blocks the installation
On some BenQ screens, Google Play Protect may display an App blocked to protect your device message.
Only continue if the Fusion Signage installation file was downloaded from an official link supplied by Fusion Signage or your authorised integrator.
If required:
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Select the profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Play Protect.
- Select the Settings icon.
- Temporarily turn off Scan apps with Play Protect.
- Return to the Fusion Signage installation file and try again.
Once Fusion Signage has been installed, return to these settings and turn Play Protect back on.
7. Allow Fusion Signage to display over other apps
When Fusion Signage opens for the first time, you may be taken to the Display over other apps settings.
- Find Fusion Signage.
- Turn on Allow display over other apps.
- Return to the Fusion Signage application.
This permission allows Fusion Signage to display your content correctly and remain visible over other system applications.
8. Pair the screen
Fusion Signage should now open and display an identity code.
To pair it:
- Sign in to the Fusion Signage dashboard on another device.
- Go to Manage and then Screens.
- Select Add Screen.
- Enter the identity code displayed on the BenQ screen.
- Complete the screen details and assign an available licence.
Once paired and published to, the screen will begin downloading and displaying its assigned content.
Troubleshooting
If the installation file cannot be found:
- Confirm you opened Files, not AMS Files.
- Look inside the Downloads folder.
- Check that the download completed successfully in Chrome.
- Download the installation file again if necessary.
If Fusion Signage installs but does not display correctly:
- Confirm Allow display over other apps is enabled.
- Confirm the screen has an active internet connection.
- Restart the screen and reopen Fusion Signage.
- Check that the screen’s date, time and time zone are correct.
